We all have a depressed mood from time to time.  But when it persists and worsens it can become debilitating.  You may feel 'stuck' with no way out.  When depressed you will often experience extreme and persistant sadness.  If you are depressed you often lose interest in things that you used to enjoy.

No one escapes depression.  Even if you don't get depressed you will know some one who is.

People may say they are depressed when actually they are unhappy, disappointed, feeling anger, guilt or feeling a bit low.

When you are unhappy you can be comforted by yourself and others.  You can say kind things to yourself.

When you are depressed you can make yourself feel worse by saying unkind things to yourself, you can be over critical.

The worse you feel about yourself the worse the world and the future looks.  The better you feel about yourself, the better the world and the future looks.
