Hypnosis is a very natural state of consciousness. It is when you are very deeply relaxed such as when you are just going off to sleep or just before you wake up. It is like day dreaming and so we are all in a state of hypnosis at some point during our day - we just call it something different.
When our minds are in this relaxed state, hypnotherapy can bypass the conscious mind and work with thought and behaviour patters deep within the subconscious.
You are in total control throughout your session. All hypnosis is self hypnosis. It will only happen if you want it to and by following the suggestions you will take yourself into hypnosis. If you hear any suggestions that you don't agree with then you can ignore them or you can bring yourself back to your normal waking state.
